Notes

The only geocoded, categorised, near-current EPS crime incident data. Correct use is week-over-week deltas by Occurrence_Group and neighbourhood hotspot detection — 'break-and-enters in Alberta Avenue up 40% this week'.

WIRED 2026-08-23: read by pipeline/sources/crime.py as the `crime` fixture for the page (model-free; raises on failure so the rail records −1). Rendering is the front end's; contract in docs/INSTRUMENTS.md. Counts only, server-side (outStatistics grouped by Occurrence_Category) over complete days: 1,183 last full week vs 1,701 the week before on 2026-08-22. No row is ever listed. HIGH-VOLUME NOISE: 78,340 records across 30 days is ~2,600 incidents per day. Never render as individual items. One-day reporting lag. Locations are generalised to Intersection, not exact addresses. Supports outStatistics for server-side aggregation — use it, do not pull all 78k rows. Catalogued but NOT WIRED, found 2026-08-21 on a second pass: the first wiring audit matched this source on a generic path segment such as 'news' or 'items' and wrongly counted it as referenced. Its mode has no generic collector and no code names its endpoint. Disabled so the registry stops counting it as coverage; the entry is kept because the endpoint was verified. See ops/wiring.py.
