The rooms that sell only through Ticketmaster and publish no listing of their own — the Jubilee, the Midway, K-Days — which our reader-facing copy names as the rail's stated gap. Included on the owner's decision 2026-08-24 after the terms were read.
Read by pipeline/sources/events.py (ticketmaster). NO KEY MEANS IT RAISES, never returns [] — an absent key would otherwise look exactly like a city with no concerts. It is rostered in HARVESTERS only when the key is set, so an unconfigured source is not reported to readers as a FAILED one. A TICKETING STATUS IS NOT AN EVENT STATUS: dates.status.code is onsale | offsale | canceled | postponed | rescheduled, and offsale means tickets are not moving (usually sold out) while the show is still on. canceled and postponed are dropped — a postponed record still carries its OLD date. sales.public.startDateTime is the ON-SALE date and has nothing to do with when the show is; only dates.start describes the event. dateTBD/dateTBA rows are dropped rather than given a placeholder date, and timeTBA/noSpecificTime become all-day rows. Free tier is 2 requests per second and 5000 per day. RETENTION (owner, 2026-10-08, DECISIONS.md #36): every row is stamped source="ticketmaster.ca" (pipeline/retention.py TICKETMASTER_SOURCE, imported by the collector) and that value, never the URL, is what marks it as theirs — 117 of 293 rows link to ticketweb.ca. Once the row's last stated day (end_sort, else sort) is before today in Edmonton, the build removes it from data/briefs/events/<day>.json and leaves its id under the shard's "retired" key; every read that publishes withholds it until then. Do not change the stamp without changing the constant.

Alberta mode is a guy from Edmonton commenting on the news, and the guy is a machine. One or two lines an item — what somebody who has lived here his whole life would say reading it out to his mates.
It is not the story. The headline above each comment is the real one, the source link below it goes to the real reporting, and the plain edition is one click away. He is not summarising anything and he is not a reporter; he is the guy at the shop with an opinion about it.
He swears when a sentence wants it. He is rude about council, developers, the province, the weather, the roads and the Oilers, and never about the people in the story. He holds about a dozen opinions that contradict each other and he is fine with that.
Some of it will sit wrong anyway. When it does, that is on us and we would rather hear it than not: corrections@edmontondailybrief.ca, and we will pull the line.
Two things get no comment at all, and they are not negotiable: anyone charged or before a court, who has a trial coming and is entitled to have us stay out of it, and a suicide. Anything you need to ACT on — a tip line, an advisory, an evacuation — keeps its full text underneath the comment, because a phone number does not go behind a joke.
The plain edition is the record, and it is the default. It is one click away and it is where you should check anything before you act on it.
